At Maitea, we care a lot about the quality and finish of our jewellery, so you can wear it with confidence. We offer a 5-year warranty on manufacturing defects.

Summary

  • 5-year warranty on stainless steel, PVD-coated stainless steel and sterling silver against manufacturing defects

  • Replacement or equivalent product in case of a defect, with the faulty item sent back by post for inspection

  • Care note: silver tarnishing is a natural process and easy to clean. Gold-plated silver gradually returns to its silver base over time.

  • Not covered: wear or fading of gold plating, damage from improper handling, normal signs of wear, loss or theft

  • Warranty claim: simply through our Maitea returns portal, with photos and a short description of the problem

Warranty scope and conditions

The warranty period is 5 years for stainless steel, PVD-coated stainless steel and sterling silver.
For proven defects, we replace the product or provide an equivalent one.
Defective items can be sent to us by post for inspection and processing.

Jewellery care

Sterling silver tarnishing is a natural process and can easily be removed with a silver polishing cloth or gentle cleaning products.
Gold-plated silver develops a natural patina over time and returns to its silver base, as it is not permanently waterproof. This is not a defect, but a normal property of the material.
Stainless steel jewellery, whatever its colour, is especially durable and can be worn while washing your hands, showering or swimming. If the material discolours anyway, this is covered by the Maitea 5-year warranty.

Detailed warranty coverage

Stainless steel and PVD-coated stainless steel:

  • 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects, including material or coating problems

  • Discolouration and tarnishing are also covered

Sterling silver:

  • 5-year warranty on defects in material and workmanship, to preserve the natural shine of silver

  • Note: contact with salt water or extreme conditions can blacken silver. This is a natural process, easy to clean and not covered by the warranty

Clasps, chains and closures:

  • 5-year warranty against breakage due to manufacturing defects

Stone settings:

  • 5-year warranty if stones loosen or shift due to manufacturing defects

Exclusions and limitations

  • Gold-plated sterling silver: no replacement for wear or fading of the gold plating, as silver is not permanently waterproof. How long the plating lasts depends on use and your skin's pH.

  • Adjustable silver rings: breakage from excessive bending or improper use is excluded. Please adjust rings gently.

  • Normal wear: scratches, tarnishing, fading or discolouration from daily use, chemicals or incorrect care are excluded.

  • Loss or theft: no replacement for lost or stolen jewellery.

  • Unauthorised changes: repairs or modifications by third parties void the warranty.

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Open our Maitea returns portal and find your order with your order number and postcode.

  2. Select your piece and choose warranty claim.

  3. Upload photos and briefly describe the problem.

  4. We review your claim and get back to you with the next steps for sending it back.

Once we've reviewed your claim, we will:

  • replace the defective product with the same or a similar product of equal value, or

  • offer a partial or full refund if a replacement isn't possible.
