You know the thrill of wearing a new piece of jewelry for the first time? Watching it catch the light; getting compliments from friends? What if there was another reason your purchase made you feel good?

You might not even be aware of it, but every time you purchase an item from Maitea, we donate 1€ to charity. We’ve been collecting donations since the launch of our online shop in December 2024. Each and every customer has helped us inch closer to our 1000€ target.


Now, we’re donating our first charity collection pot to Wildwasser Berlin to help them support women and girls who suffer from sexual and domestic violence.

Cora Weiler, Managing Director at Wildwasser Berlin, told us, “We are deeply moved by Maitea’s commitment. Their donation is a truly meaningful contribution to our work.”

We chose to support Wildwasser Berlin to help them continue their crucial, life-saving work. Since 1983, Wildwasser has been providing services for women and girls who suffer from sexual and domestic violence. These include offering safe housing options and crisis intervention groups that ensure vulnerable women and girls can safely escape dangerous or violent living situations.


They also offer counselling and self-help groups, as well as educational programs and workshops that empower participants. Wildwasser Berlin is committed to helping women and girls regardless of their nationality or ethnicity, providing translation support to ensure women of all backgrounds can access their services.

Cora explains that, “In short, Maitea’s support helps fill the gaps left by limited public funding. It

helps us respond quickly and compassionately when people reach out to us in their most vulnerable moments.”

As well as donating, we also share leaflets with information about Wildwasser Berlin’s work in our shop and market stalls. As of April 2025, we’ve begun collecting for our second charity pot, which we will also donate to Wildwasser Berlin.

How your donations are helping

We asked Cora where our 1000€ donation will be spent. “The funds will go directly toward critical, concrete needs that help survivors of sexualized violence in very immediate and practical ways,” she said. “For example, by providing professional interpreters so that people who don’t speak German can access trauma-informed counseling and crisis support — safely, respectfully, and in their own words.”

They will also spend the donation on basic necessities such as mattresses, kitchen supplies, and other items that help people arriving in crisis situations feel comfortable and safe. As well as these essentials, part of the donation will go towards buying creative and therapeutic materials for children and adolescents to help them process traumatic experiences in age-appropriate ways.

The idea behind Maitea’s charity program

Before starting Maitea, co-founders Julika and Mayar both worked in the charity sector. We know the impact charity donations can have — and we also know how rewarding it is to help a cause grow.
